Circa 1915 Restored Bungalow ~ SOLD ~ by Greg Rapp & Salisbury Real Estate LLC

Welcome to America's favorite residential architectural style, The Craftsman Bungalow! Located in the heart of Spencer, North Carolina's Historic District, 408 Iredell Avenue is a stunning restoration of a circa 1915 bungalow from top to bottom! Listed with Greg Rapp of Salisbury Real Estate LLC, this  vintage home  - built with quality materials and construction - and NEW REMODEL has a new owner!

408 Iredell Avenue:  SOLD by Greg Rapp | Salisbury Real Estate LLC

This classic 4-bedroom house with over 2,100 square feet of living space was completely renovated with all new roof, brand new kitchen, new bathrooms, and all new HVAC, electric, and plumbing (with tankless gas water heater!) and all newly installed double-insulated windows!

First floor exterior is original 1915 pebbledash stucco ~ an essential element in the palette of the Arts and Crafts movement. Pebbledash is a form of render used for external walls in which the top coat is textured by pebbles and stone fragments to create a rough finish. The wall surface is plastered with render and the pebbledash material thrown and pressed in while still wet. Pebbledash became a popular rendering technique between the 1890s and the 1930s as part of the Arts and Crafts movement which sought to revive traditional building processes as forms of vernacular architecture. It is a highly durable exterior finish, and here in this fine example, both the first floor pebbledash and second story cedar shake shingles are boasting fresh coats of pretty pale sage paint.

Our favorite features of this beautiful home include the spacious foyer with original fireplace (non-functioning) ~ with beautiful curved doorways and an open and wonderful floor plan with gorgeous original wood floors, all freshly refinished. We loved all the original Arts & Crafts woodwork, moldings, and fireplace surrounds. And the newly installed kitchen!  Oh, WOW!

The Spencer North Carolina Historic District is just blocks away from the beautiful Library Park, the popular NC Transportation Museum, and cute town restaurants and shops. For more, it's just a hop skip and a jump to the City of Salisbury's vibrant downtown with unique shops, restaurants and microbreweries, bakeries and coffee shops, the Rowan Public Library and the fabulous Bell Tower Green central city park. High Rock Lake is just down the road, hosting water sports, boating, and swimming. And when you need to get on the road, the Historic Amtrak Station and Interstate-85 are just a stone's throw away.

This beauty is no longer available, thanks to the marketing reach of Realtor® Greg Rapp with Salisbury Real Estate LLC, who closed the deal on the home mid-August 2023!

But there are a number of amazing vintage homes available in the Salisbury/Spencer/Rowan County area ~ conveniently located between the greater metro areas of Charlotte, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem, North Carolina....without all the traffic and other 'big city' complexities!

1436 CHURCH STREET NORTH ~ Virtually No Maintenance & Close to Everything!

Greg Rapp with Wallace Realty has a new listing at 1436 North Church Street in the North Main Neighborhood of Salisbury, North Carolina!

Brick and Vinyl Siding = Low Maintenance!

Check out this brick and vinyl sided home!  Surrounded by large shade trees, but with a wonderfully sunny yard, this 3 bedroom / 2 bath single story home features a great open floor plan with a huge living area.  You'll absolutely love the feeling of space this wide open area gives you!

We love the eat-in kitchen with its sunny butternut-squash paint color, cheery bay window nook for dining, and loads of cupboards!
More people, especially those who are raising families, want kitchens that overlook family entertainment rooms. Some have even made the kitchen a family hangout by placing big-screen TVs and other electronics in the kitchen. Not only does the kitchen at 1426 N. Church Street have this combo cooking/dining area, but the rear kitchen door leads to a cute deck ~ the ideal space for grilling and dining al fresca!   You'll be overlooking your large lot and private back yard.

The Owners Suite has a nice walk-in closet and bathroom with dual vanities.

Everything starts with location!

The features described are not necessarily the most important deciding factor for potential home buyers. When looking at house, one of the first things people consider are factors such as the neighborhood, the school district and the difficulty of the commute to work. Everything starts with location: You can have the best house in the world, but if it's not in the neighborhood and school district where everyone wants to live, you are just not going to look at it.

The North Main Neighborhood is close to both City of Salisbury and Town of Spencer amenities: the wonderful North Carolina Transportation Museum, theatre, arts and entertainment district, parks, restaurants and shops.  And your commute to work will be a snap ~ access to Interstate 85 is not far in any direction!  An active neighborhood association, known as the Old North Salisbury Association, keeps in contact with neighbors, and neighbors maintain a neighborhood website:  north-main.org.  Two city parks adjoin the neighborhood: City Park with trails, a small lake, playgrounds, and tennis courts, and the gorgeous Hurley Park with its varied gardens, gazebos, and trails.  1436 N. Church Street is also close to the Novant Rowan Hospital and our VA hospital!  1436 N. Church Street is close to everything!

Schools in the Rowan-Salisbury District for 1436 N. Church Street are Overton Elementary, Knox Middle School, and Salisbury High School.  Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is nearby, as are Catawba College and Livingstone College.

1436 N. Main Street includes many updates such as the new HVAC unit installed in 2014.  The home has a spacious two-car garage, perfect for workshop projects or the car enthusiast!

Make Your Appointment!

Are you ready to see 1436 N. Church Street for yourself?  Give Realtor® Greg Rapp a call: (704) 213-6846 and make an appointment for a showing!  This fine maintenance free home can be YOURS by the end of the summer!  Don't wait another minute!

An Awesome Find!!! Super-Cute Country Post-War Cottage! $50,000!!

An awesome find!!! A cute-as-a-button post-war cozy cottage ~ on a quiet road with a country feel, yet just around the corner from town!  Greg Rapp has this wonderful little home for sale, now!

At just under 900 square feet ~ these cozy 2-bedroom/1-bath cottages don't come along every day! In an era of the 'tiny house' fascination or the 'less-is-more' philosophy, 1000 Rowan Avenue fits the bill!

Home sizes vary around the world; while some families live in one room huts, others have gigantic homes which seem to never end. Since 1970,the size of the average new American home has grown by 50 percent, a growth trend is similar to most western countries. However, for every trend there is a counter-trend. In the case of home size, more and more people are choosing to live in small homes. Most downsizes opt for more modest quarters, while some homeowners take this trend to a new level, choosing to live in tiny homes (and we mean tiny!).  Some of these tiny homes can be as small as only 90 sq. ft. complete with bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms and living quarters, and run the gamut from fixed homes to those with wheels and everything in between.

The small house movement is a return to houses less than 1,000 square feet, some as small as 80 square feet. Sarah Susanka has been credited with starting the recent counter-movement toward smaller houses when she published The Not So Big House (1997). Earlier pioneers include Lloyd Kahn, author of Shelter (1973). With the financial crisis of 2007–2010, the small house movement attracted more attention as it offers housing that is more affordable in acquisition and maintenance and ecologically friendly.

Welcome to 1000 Rowan Avenue in the Town of Spencer, North Carolina!  A post-war cottage built in 1947, this darling home is decidedly in town, but in such a wooded and country setting, you might forget that city amenities are just a stone's throw away!

In the Town of Spencer, just around the corner from this home, you will find Pinocchio's Italian Restaurant (yum!), the Green Goat Gallery with its wonderful art and knitting workshops, and the North Carolina Transportation Museum ~ a real treasure!  Just to the south you'll find the City of Salisbury, with its thriving arts and culture scene, including three theatre troupes, symphony performances, and a nationally accredited art gallery, as well as over 70 restaurants, and a variety of shopping choices.

This darling home has wonderful wood floors throughout.  The kitchen boasts apple green cabinetry ~ a nice change from the every-day and perfectly suited to this little charmer home that welcomes an artistic touch!

And just look at that wood floor!  Oh, how wonderful not to have that awful laminate that you'd often find in a home from this era!

An enclosed front porch makes a wonderful sunroom.  In fact, nearly all the surprisingly amply-sized rooms stream sunlight and cheerfulness!

Stock up on bubble-bath!

The bathroom has a vintage claw-foot tub, a lovely pedestal sink, and wonderful wainscoting and beadboard throughout!

This home offers an amazing amount of storage space.  It has a full (dry!) unfinished basement, perfect for storage AND workshop areas.

A small shed in the rear of the home is almost like a small addition, and there is another small outbuilding, perfect for lawn mowers and garden tools, a carport AND a 1-car garage.

There is also a pull down stair case that leads to a finished room in the attic ~ offering even more storage or a complete other room.

1000 Rowan Avenue has a large fenced back yard backed by a thick woods.  We told you country setting, and it's marvelous!

1000 Rowan Avenue (and how cool is that address?!) is close to everything yet is nestled into the most peaceful country setting.  You'll want to call Realtor® Greg Rapp as soon as you can ~ (704) 213-6846 ~ to see this cozy cottage for yourself!  Mmmmmmm ~ home-sweet-home ~ and for just $50,000!
