Drones — also known as unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) — can be a useful tool for real estate agents and sellers. Drone photography can show potential buyers a variety of details, including:
- Encompassing aerial views of the entire property and land;
- What the drive home or the kids’ walk to school looks like;
- The neighborhood and surrounding area, including the home’s proximity to amenities;
- Civic developments or local improvement districts that the buyer’s property taxes might contribute to property maps and surveys
There are strict rules real estate agents must follow
Many have concerns with the concept of drones taking illicit footage and these concerns are not lost on the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The agency has a process for legally using drones, with operational guidelines and common sense rules. Wallace Realty's commercial drone pilot has, under the legal terms of use, has FAA approval under Section 333 of FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012, and has obtained a civil Certificate of Waiver or Authorization for the air space in which we'll be operating. The Wallace Realty drone pilot is further a licensed FAA airman, certified as a private, recreational or sport pilot.
